1979 F-350 Supercab Resto-Mod Start to Finish

For those of you who haven't seen the build series, here is the complete build without my annoying voice yabbering on about all the details. You will have to deal with my choice of music, but finding rights-free music to use is really hard.

  • WOW , love the build ...... my dad had a similar truck when i was your son's age. His was same make and model in hunter green and had the built in tool box on both bedsides. I can remember what my dad did with his truck really impressed me , he would take that big ol' truck threw the same spots where mostly if not all only jeeps n blazers could go threw. Didnt know if it was dad's skill behind the wheel , the truck itself or both. Brought back a lot of fond memories , thank you ..... i want to do a build like this for my dad in honor of him and now i will use this video to help me do so when i find the right truck.

  • This truck came out looking incredible. I loved this era of the Ford pickups. My father had a couple of the 70's and 80's F-series pickups when I was growing up and they always served him well. This one looks great in white. Not a lot of trucks can pull that off.

    Fusion gamingFusion gamingАй мурун
    • Well you are on KGflow so that's a great start. Pretty much everything you'd ever need to know to build one any way you want is available here. I like to say that 1/3 of being a great mechanic or fabricator is having the right tools, 1/3 is knowing how to properly use those tools, and 1/3 is the actual knowledge of how to do whatever task you are trying to do (which is now free on YT). Start by sourcing tools and getting used to using them and then search YT for whatever you want to know. For hand tools I like Husky and Craftsman, for power tools I like DeWalt and Milwaukee. You can buy more expensive tools, but you'll pay 100% more for maybe 5% better quality.

  • Really nice all around! I've watched the entire series twice so far. Lots of inspiration for my new project. I'm about to start a 79 F-250 SuperCab 4X4. Thanks for the suggestions. That brake system is sweet! The AC system looks like a no-brainer too albeit a bit pricey. Well done series with lots of useable information! Thank you!!!!!!

    Dan GroveDan GroveАй мурун
    • Thanks! I am very happy with the brakes and the price was quite reasonable. It ended up being much cheaper than to track down a rebuilt factory booster and MC. The AC system is pricey for sure, but in Phx the truck is basically a paperweight without it for 10 months out of the year.

I would apprentice with you for free just to have some of that knowledge rub off. Dude, you are a freakin astronaut...to the moon. I'm trying to do some restoration on my 94 f 250 ....but have to learn everything from videos, as I never had a mentor with this stuff. Man that shit is to die for. The transmission part is what REALLY blows my mind on top of all the rest. Damn awesome doesn't even come close to how I feel when I see someone that talented. I am your new biggest fan. • @Austin Coulson Thanks for the explanation! Great build!!!

      sgsdfg sdfgsdfgsgsdfg sdfgsdfg2 ай мурун
    • It must have been the camera angle, but the pans were perfectly solid with just the slightest surface discoloring. I think they just looked rusty in the video because you aren't the only one to mention that

      Austin CoulsonAustin Coulson2 ай мурун
  • What did you do with the paint? Respray the whole truck or just touch up paint?

    Cole ClarkCole Clark2 ай мурун
    • I just touched it up. I liked the trucks character and didn't want to make it perfect, just better. I also really didn't want to weld on the body or add body filler

      Austin CoulsonAustin Coulson2 ай мурун
  • I have received a bunch of questions on this video and almost all of them are answered in detail in the individual episodes. There are links to those in the description, but for those of you that don't have the time or desire to watch those, here are the answers to the most common questions; Q: Why did you do all that body work and not repaint it!? A: Because the owner and I appreciate trucks that have the original paint, and he uses this truck as a truck so it is bound to get little scratches. Also, it would have increase the cost by around 10k Q: How long did this take? A: 275hrs of labor over 4 months Q: How much did it cost and is it for sale? A: I Charged 30k$ USD for this build, and around 13k$ or so was labor and the rest parts. The owner paid for a lot of additional parts himself. I don't know the exact total into this truck including the truck itself but I am sure it's over 45k. The owner is accepting offers on it and if you email me @ acthecarguy@gmail.com I will pass your info onto him Q: How did you learn to do this? A: Lots of trial and error (mostly error) when I was young. I learned better techniques and how to read technical manuals in the Army as a helicopter mechanic, and last but not least, KGflow Q: How did you become so awesome? A: Awesomeness is passed down from the Mother. Don't believe me, look at my Sister's cookie or look at my wife wet sanding the bed, then see how proficient my Son is at engine building. Thank you all so much for the support on this build, if you have any more questions just write them in the comments!
